Our Favourite Non-quarantine Summer Vacay Destinations
Finally, there is light. Travel restrictions are lifting, and we can (to some degree) holiday again. Here are some of our favourite non-quarantine summer vacay destinations
Destination Airport
DBX is one of the busiest airports in the world. With four terminals, there are quite a few things you can do.
Tired? Got up early? Have a long layover? DXB's Snooze Cube is ideal for a short nap, or if you prefer something fancier, there's also the 5-star Dubai International Hotel. If you're at Dubai International Airport with kids, there are several dedicated play areas, with the newest being Kids Zone in T3.
Terminal 3 at DBX is home to the Duty-Free Mall, which spans a whopping 26,000 sqm. If you want to quench your thirst or grab a bite to eat, there's also an impressive range of cafes and restaurants.
DBX Airport Outfits
Your airport look is as important as any other holiday look. Start as you mean to go on!
Each day new travel destinations from Dubai are re-opening, giving us hope that things are getting back to normal. Whether you're travelling from Dubai to Greece or from Dubai to Phuket, it doesn't matter. Getting your airport outfit on point is a must!
When it comes to your airport outfit, aim for comfy chic. Think ultra-glam loungewear meets The Real Housewives. Knitted pants with encased elastic waistbands for comfort are perfect when paired with a matching cropped cardigan. Airport fashion also calls for sensible footwear. Classic pumps are easy to travel in - they are both comfortable and sophisticated.
Equally important is your arm candy. As well as your suitcases, you'll be no doubt carrying a personal carry-on bag. To punch up a casual airport outfit, go bold. Your bag needs to be big enough to hold your personal belongings and small enough to fit in the overhead lockers. Whether it's first thing in the morning, mid-afternoon, or late at night, to achieve a celeb-worthy look, add a pair of sunglasses to make the airport your runway.
Destination Santorini
The best (and most picturesque) way to reach Santorini is by ferry. As soon as you set eyes on the island, you'll marvel at the rocky peaks and the tiny white villages dotted among them. You'll also get a decent view of the Caldera.
Dip your toes into yposkafa - Santorini's infinity pools, where you'll see some of the world's most expensive real estate excavated into the rocks before hiking down to the island's famous Red Beach.
Santorini is a foodie's paradise and has an impressive culinary scope. Make sure to try the local Assyrtiko wine while taking in one of the best sunsets in the world.
Santorini Outfits
Whether you're heading out on a boat trip or admiring the picture-perfect pastel town of Oia, you'll blend in with the scenery with outfits boasting this season's "it" colour - lilac. From stunning lilac swimsuits that can double as a bodysuit paired with Aztec-inspired culotte shorts to flip flops and statement bags, you'll need a cute outfit to navigate the rocky ruins and enjoy a few ouzos at a local taverna.
Destination Phuket
White sandy beaches, turquoise waters, and Thai culture...welcome to Phuket! A mere 90-minute flight from Bangkok, Thailand's largest island is the perfect destination for all travellers whether you're in search of beach bliss or a gourmet odyssey.
You may want to spend the day lounging by your hotel's infinity pool, but if you want to get a taste of Thailand, take a long-tail boat to soak in the wonders of the limestone karsts at Phang Nga Bay. If boats are your thing, there are plenty of island-hopping cruise experiences to be had where you'll be able to dabble in several water sports. For the more adventurous, take to the sky and view the stunning coastline by helicopter.
After beaches, boats, and helicopter adventures, why not visit the very Bohemian Phuket Art Village in Rawai, where you'll be able to pick up a few souvenirs.
Phuket Outfits
Phuket's upmarket areas are super glam, but it's also very humid, meaning you want something light and breezy.
Sweet shorts and cami co ords with feminine detail will allow you to blend in with your beachy surroundings when you visit one of Phuket's must-see beaches. A bright two-piece will help you blend in with the surroundings when snorkelling, while a clutch and a luxury scarf add that glam factor.
Destination Ibiza
Aguas Blancas, a beach on the island's northeastern point, is a great place to start your day.
A trip to Santa Gertrudis should also be on the list. This little village boasts many lively and diverse cafes and is the perfect spot for people-watching and shopping. After watching the world go by, head to El Chiringuito Es Cavallet, an upmarket beach club-cum-restaurant that has chilled laidback vibes and a menu boasting mouthwatering food.
For picture-perfect sunsets, go to San Antonio, where you'll see one of nature's most impressive shows unfold before your very eyes. For a more authentic experience, climb up to Punta Galera.
Ibiza Outfits
Whether you're sipping on cocktails and taking in the stunning sunset views at Playa des Codolar Salinas or you're heading to a place a little livelier, Ibiza fashion is a fusion of boho, vintage, and classy. Ibiza fashion demands contrast and colour when it comes to swimwear and accessories. Pattern print bikinis are also a must. To add that extra "wow" factor - a chic tote, a Panama hat, and some metallic statement sandals will bring everything together nicely.
Destination Cyprus
With its many archaeological sites, Cyprus is a history buff's dream. One not to miss is Curium.
For fresh air and nature, head to the mountains, where you'll find vineyards and several trails. Whether it's a gentle walk or a challenging trek - there are plenty of routes that offer scenic views in the Troodos Mountains, such as the Caledonia Trai. For more adventure, why not try your hand at diving or snorkelling? Zenobia - one of the world's most famous dive sites is a diver's dream and is home to several shipwrecks.
To refresh, visit one of the many thalassotherapy centres that use seawater for restorative purposes. For more relaxation, spend time savouring the culinary delights of Cyprus, which bears influences from Europe, Asia, and Africa. From traditional tavernas to cutting-edge fusion cuisines, Cypriot restaurants are worth exploring. For nighttime fun, head to Limassol, where you'll find lively seasonal clubs, bars, resorts, cafes, and restaurants.
Cyprus Outfit Inspiration
Coral Bay, Paphos, Ayia Napa, Limassol, Pernera, Larnaca - the list of resort towns in Cyprus goes on. To dress the part, packing some luxurious resort wear is essential. Think elegance and style. In Cyprus, you can never go wrong with a stylish button-down maxi. An elegant straw hat is one of the best accessories for a day in the Cypriot sun, which will take you from sunbathing on the sandy white beaches of Coral Bay to Aphrodite's Rock to a cafe or outdoor bar on Larnaca's promenade. Comfy slip-on shoes are easy, and bling is non-negotiable.
Whether you're jetting off for your long-overdue holiday to Ibiza or Santorini, you need the right outfit. This season it's all about soft feminine boho dresses and minimalistic design while making room for some refreshing accents of colour and bling with your accessories. Happy holidays!
